  • S50 M coupe failed on emissions

Hi all, my coupe faired well in the MOT just failed on a bush, but more importantly the emissions. My mechanic plugged it in and seems to have found the O2 sensor failure. I have searched a few posts and found conflicting part numbers. Could someone confirm part numbers or even best place to buy new sensors?

I did notice it smelt a bit rich when I fired it up but I know it could be many other issues rather than O2 sensors and would like to get it smoke tested for leaks. But in the meantime if someone knows the part numbers then please let me know. Thanks guys ????

I think they are all the same part number for the S50B32 Coupe but worth putting your vin into realoem or bimmercat to confirm,

I think you can buy a genuine Bosch part much cheaper from a factors and then cut and attach plug to the correct length ?

Had the coupe smoke tested and there’s a leak at the inlet manifold, at the gasket on at least two. Glad we went that way rather than chucking parts on it. :) hopefully this sorts it

Bit of an update for anyone looking at Lambda sensors. I managed to buy 2 bosh o2 sensors from C3BMW, for the two it came it at around £150. One of the 2 sensors came as a plug and play part number 11 781 406 622. The other same part number but ending 621 which is the longer one for banks 1-3 came with the connector not attached and is now, according to C3BMW a generic bosh o2 sensor. My mechanic said this was about 19inches too short and the o2 sensors had already been spliced in. So the connector from the old o2 sensor was cut and then soldered to the new cable attached to the new probe. This meant I would end up with 2 sections being spliced in. So I bought a new one from BMW. OUCH ....... Im not sure at this point if the 2 Lambda sensors are identical or if there is any difference between them but the generic one supplied was different according to my mechanic. If they are identical, which I will know when the BMW sensor arrives, then best buying two of the 622 ending.

On the plus side the new inlet manifold gasket has sorted the stalling problem but there's still a bounce here and there at idle. idling low sometimes around 500 and a bounce of 1200 occasionally which hopefully the o2 sensors will sort. (still running a bit lean). Had the underside steam cleaned ready for underseal, and it looks brilliant under there, solid as a solid thing, examined the diff bracket and its as new. Service and put it back in the garage lol.

The Bosh part numbers are different to the bmw part numbers above, 0 258 005 138 and the other ending 137 I think.
