  • Moving house & garage build

It's been a long while since I've been on the forum - Stacey and I moved back in February and we've been sorting the house out, alongside work being busier than ever.

We were previously in a 1 bed coach house, fortunately with 2 car ports underneath and one rented from next door. We had no outside space the house went straight onto the street with no back garden. With lockdown taking place, this meant that I was working in the kitchen / living room constantly with no escape from work.

Around September we thought f*** it we need to get somewhere else, the toll on mental health was crazy. So I found small place, but crucially with plent of garden / space for vehicles! We finally completed in Feb this year. This meant my own office with a spare bedroom

    The house

It came with a double-car port, and I've always wanted to have a well equipped, tidy garage, so the renovation started

    We started here, no doors

Electricity in thanks to a mate, and starting to insulate and board it out

Replacing the shelving with some new units (I've always wanted a roller cab!)

    The roller door went on

    More boarding, and some flooring

Boarding finished and half lights put in (1200 x 300 led panels. I have 5 currently wired, 2 on the back slope and 3 at the top. The others need wiring, so 9 panels total on 2 circuits! Perfect for detailing!

Some nice downlighting on the outside

So, a complete overhaul and I love the place. It's just big enough for 2 cars and 2 motorbikes. The plan is evenutally to get a 4 post lift to enable 3 cars to be stored

Here it is from the inside - such a great place to do work

Great stuff Martin, at last a secure place to call home for the cars & m/bikes. Stacey and yourself must be really pleased with your new place with all the extra space. Look forward to seeing you both at the Classic later in the month.

        Martin,
Have you got your own well in front of the garage?

Good to see you have plenty of electric sockets, you never have too many sockets.

Yes there is a well! The cover is a bit shaky but seems to be holding up

Yes, 6 double sockets and a commando waiting for the lift, so plenty of power

That looks great! The only reason I want to move house is to get a better garage space, but can’t justify it just for that!!

Yes, I feel you. Though with my warehouse job I cannot afford a new house.
